May God Bless America!

Approximately around 600Bc, God commissioned and sent the prophet Jeremiah to warn the kings and princes, and priests, as well as all the inhabitants of Israel and Judah, of the impending judgment which God was about to pour out upon their cities and their nation because of their iniquity and backsliding from God. God sent Jeremiah to the potter’s house to watch the potter at his work of molding the clay into vessels of his choosing to serve various purposes. This was to instruct and remind Jeremiah that God is sovereign over his creation, even as the potter is sovereign over the clay.

God forms people and nations according to his will and purpose: even as the clay may be molded in the potter’s hand, to become a vessel for a specific purpose, God was revealing to Jeremiah that he had brought the nation of Israel into existence for a specific purpose; and even as the clay may be become marred in the potter’s hand, and consequently the potter cast it aside to be reworked into another vessel, so must he do with Israel as a nation because of their backslidden condition.

This lesson was to remind Jeremiah that God was about to remake the vessels of his own people into what he had meant for them to be, even by their suffering, and captivity, and judgment which was about to fall on them because of their sin of idolatry and backsliding. God warned his people through the preaching of Jeremiah, by the image and type of a broken potter’s vessel, how he was to utterly destroy Israel and Judah for their iniquity.

“Thus saith the Lord, go and get a potter’s earthen bottle, and take of the ancients of the people, and of the ancients of the priests; and go forth unto the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the east gate, and proclaim there the words that I shall tell thee, and say, hear ye the word of the Lord, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem; thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; behold, I will bring evil upon this place, the which whosoever heareth, his ears shall tingle. Because they have forsaken me,, and have estranged in this place, and have burned incense in it unto other gods, whom neither they nor their fathers have known, nor the kings of Judah, and have filled this place with the blood of innocents; they have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind: therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that this place shall no more be called Tophet, nor the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the valley of slaughter.” Jeremiah 19:1-6.

Could it be that here in America we might learn something from the preaching of Jeremiah and the experience of Israel and Judah, and see ourselves as individuals, and as a nation which has terribly backslidden from the principles of godliness and missionary purposes for which our nation was founded, and granted liberty by almighty God, and fallen into iniquity equal to that of Israel and Judah for which God was about to pour out his judgment?
As Jeremiah warned Israel and Judah, so may the preachers and pastors of our land, warn our nation that God is angry with us for the innocent blood of millions of unborn babies that have been sacrificed on the altar of selfishness and convenience, and lack of compassion and love.

Idolatry in our land is rampant and prevails, the public school systems of America are being stripped of all forms of decency and godly worship. The way that God has provided for the procreation of the human species is being perverted by the acceptance of a perverted life style of men with men ,and women with women, which according to God’s law is unnatural and worthy of judgment, even as Sodom and Gomorrah. Once in America, the bible and the ten commandments were honored, even by unbelievers, and the motto: “In God we trust” highly respected as a national motto; but now these ten commandments and any mention of God is unwanted in our public places lest a child should read them and learn to live by them.

These laws of God which were the basis for our common laws are being forsaken for other forms of bestial behavior that is a stench in the nostrils of God.

Be warned America, we are ripening for judgment. Israel and Judah were carried away captive because of their neglect of God who had ordained that they be a nation. Our beloved country, America, the land of the free and the home of the brave is also setting itself up for the judgment of God, and perhaps even as Israel and Judah, may be carried away into captivity because of their insolence against God, and the worship of Idols.
God has greatly prospered America, the present super power of the world; but we are a backslidden people. Because of our prosperity and success, we have turned away from God to our own ways, and have become a proud and haughty people , and hated in the eyes of much of the world.

For the most part, prayer is forbidden in our schools and public places unless of course there is a national emergency, then we are urged to sing our prayer with fearful hands lifted up to God whom we claim does not exist with ;:“God bless America.”.

Which God do we expect to bless America, the God of the secular humanist, which is no God al all, or Wall street, or science, so called, which denies the reality of anything which cannot be seen, touched, or measured. Perhaps the abortionist, the feminist, the drug addicts, the perverts, the homosexuals, all these may be able to help.

Yes, we do love America, we are proud of our heritage, we do desire for God to Bless America; but we ought to give God a reason why America should be blessed. Not because we are the richest, most powerful nation on earth; not because we possess the greatest technology; not because we are better educated. We must recognize the sovereignty of God over us. We are the clay in his hands. He can and will do with us as he pleases. He will pour out his mercy and grace upon us if we will allow him to; but on the other hand he will bring judgment unless we repent of our sins and backsliding, and turn back to him.
God warned his people Israel and Judah, and gave them the formula for peace, prosperity, and happiness. He also spelled out his plan of judgment and punishment if they rebelled. He said: “If my people which are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land.” II Chronicles 7:14.
God is merciful and longsuffering. He is not willing that any should perish. He warns, he inflicts minor punishments at first, if his children do not take heed and listen, his chastisement becomes more intense and severe until the point of no return when his judgments are devastating.

Take heed all who value life, liberty, and happiness. Take heed all who love our nation. Turn back to God in humble repentance and ask God’s forgiveness of all these evil things for which we are all guilty, and give God a reason for truly blessing America.
